DSLR Photography Level 1 course
A five-week course ideal for those who have recently purchased or want to learn more about their digital SLR camera. Designed to demystify the features and gain a basic understanding of light, composition and colour, to help you to use the camera in a more creative way.

Mondays from 13th January from 6.15pm to 8.45pm, £160/£140 concessions.

Talk Cinema Film Course
The premise is simple, you see a film and meet the following week to talk about it in an informal lecturer-led discussion. The only requirement is a love of cinema and a desire to talk about it!

Tuesday evenings, from 28th January, £55/£45 concessions and includes entry to the four films covered in the course.


A series of one day film courses will shine a light on a variety of areas of cinema.

The Cinema Of World War One
Look at films such as All Quiet On The Western Front, the first Oscar winner Wings, Renoir’s La Grande Illusion, Kubrick’s Paths Of Glory, Gallipoli and more recent depictions War Horse, Private Peaceful and 2020’s exceptional Sam Mendes’ film 1917.

The Cinema Of Charles Dickens
Explore the work of Charles Dickens from the earliest known adaptation entitled The Death Of Poor Joe (1901) to Armando Iannucci’s The Personal History Of David Copperfield (2020).

The Cinema of Alejandro Jodorowsky
Take a trip into the heady world of Alejandro Jodorowsky, who has been at the forefront of arthouse cinema in the 1960s, with cult masterpieces like El Topo and The Holy Mountain both at QUAD for a selected film season.

Saturday 8th February, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The Cinema Of The Serial Killer
Examine the cultural and historical contexts in which these films came about as well assessing the different types of serial killers.

Saturday 29th February, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

The cost for each of The Cinema Of… courses is £30/£25 concessions. There is a discounted rate for all four day courses of £110/£90 concessions.


Scriptwriting, Acting And Directing Day with Scriptwriter Tina Jay and Actor/Director Jack Brett Anderson.
Scriptwriting: From page to performance will look at the techniques and processes for creating and developing a contemporarily engaging and inspiring script, both for the theatre and TV. Directing and Performing a Script: sharing the vision will look at the role of the director; the skills and creative decisions, including casting, set and lighting.

Saturday 25th January, Scriptwriting Workshop 10.30am to 1.30pm, Directing Workshop 2.30pm to 5.30pm. £18/£16 concessions for individual workshops, or both for £33/£30 concessions.

Free Writing Day
Charlotte Baker presents tasks to develop free writing techniques and approach ideas with a new mindset to boost creativity and improve well-being.

Saturday 1st February, 10.00am to 4.00pm, £30/£25 concessions.

Eight Week Writing Courses
The courses return with the popular Writing A Novel with Helen Cooper, from 19th February and Self-Publishing For Beginners with Dawn Brookes from 20th February.


A seven week film-making course for young people aged seven to eleven with a chance to script and star in KidsQUAD’s latest adventure, Revenge of the Killer Vegetables.

Saturdays, from 10.30am to 12.30pm commencing 18th January, £77.00.


Digital Arts Award (Bronze Level)
An opportunity for digitally inclined teenager to learn about and develop their creative and technical skills in VR, AR, Gifs, Digital Animation and Game Design, and also receive a nationally recognised accreditation.
