There has never been a better time for UK companies to engage with China.

China’s plan of moving from being a manufacturer of quantity to one of quality, is leading to new opportunities for innovative UK business that can add value to the manufacturing supply chain.

China’s transformation to an economy based on consumption is helping to create new opportunities for UK exporters. If you have never done business in China but are interested in getting started, then attend this first of two free seminars at Derby’s iHub to learn about the opportunities awaiting your business in China. The seminar will take place on Wednesday 31st July from 8.00am until 10.45am.

This workshop will help prepare businesses for the upcoming mission led by the Derby and Derbyshire Councils, the Midlands Engine and DIT, to the World Manufacturing Conference in Hefei on the 20th to the 23rd September 2019.

Cllr Christopher Poulter, Leader of Derby City Council:

“It was three years ago that the two cities, Hefei, capital of Anhui province, and Derby were first linked. Much progress has been made since then, especially within links between businesses and inward investment projects, but also in educational exchanges at primary, secondary and HE levels.

In 2017, Derby hosted one of the UK’s most significant Chinese business delegations from Hefei – with around 23 delegates. In 2018 Derbyshire County Council formed a relationship with Anhui Province. In 2019, even closer links will be forged with Hefei and Anhui. Alongside Derbyshire County Council, the Department for International Trade, the East Midlands Chamber the City and County Councils, will head up a significant business delegation from the across the Midlands to the 2nd World Manufacture Convention this September. I believe this will be a fantastic opportunity to enhance the trading links between two regions and the closer economic ties will surely yield wider benefits”
