Councillor Ranjit Banwait, Leader of Derby City Council, said:

As Council lead on our relationship with the Armed Forces, I signed the Armed Forces community covenant when I was Deputy Leader of the Council. As per our commitment to the Armed Forces we are holding a recruitment event on Wednesday 16 November at the Council House.

We will be hosting an Army Recruitment Day on Wednesday 16 November between 10am – 3pm in the Council House.

The event will give people a chance to find out more about joining the Army and an insight into what being in the Army is like.

If you’re interested in joining the Army and want to find out more information there will be a number of stalls both inside and outside the Council House.

The following Units will be attending the recruitment day if you have any questions you want to ask them:

  • 148 Field Company 104 Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers
  • 159 Royal Logistic Corps (Burton Detachment)
  • F Company 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment (The Regional Infantry Unit)
  • 222 Medical Sqn Royal Army Medical Corps

Also in attendance will be the Mercian Regiment Regimental Mascot, the Ram from between 11.30 am and 12.30pm.

This is a great opportunity to show our support for the Army in general and our local Units in particular. The event will help give people an insight into life in the Army and will allow people to have any questions answered.
