Resurfacing work is due to begin on Balaclava Road and part of St Thomas Road on Monday 19th February, making good use of the school half term holiday. The work will take approximately four weeks to complete, subject to good weather.

The scheme extents are from St Thomas Road, at the junction of Randolph Road, to the junction with Newdigate Street.

Work will include planing off the existing surface and replacing with new tarmac, as well as a geo-grid material to reinforce the structure of the road on this busy bus route.  All road markings will be replaced once work is complete.  Work will start with drainage improvements, including repairs to gully pots, gully frames and manhole covers.

There will be a road closure in place from Monday 19th February to Monday 19th March from Osmaston Park Road/Newdigate Street to Randolph Road.  There may be some weekend working if necessary, but this is not scheduled.

The road closure will remain during the day and will be lifted once construction work is completed each night.  Diversion routes will be clearly sign posted and access will be maintained for residents with a minimal disruption as possible.

Bus services along Balaclava Road will unfortunately be disrupted whilst the road resurfacing work is being completed, for the duration of the road closure only.  Bus companies will provide further details on their services.
