As part of the Caring at Christmas project a number of gifts have been donated to children in care by staff around the Council.

Thanks to the generosity of staff over 400 children and young people will be able to open a present this Christmas.

Councillor Sara Bolton, Cabinet Member for Safeguarding and Children and Young People, said:

Thank you for showing that we are Caring at Christmas. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the Caring at Christmas project by donating gifts to our children in care. Thanks to your generosity and that of your colleagues, we received enough donations to give a gift to every child.

Furthermore I would like to personally thank all who helped to organise the campaign and each of the locations where gifts could be left. This has truly been a Council wide initiative. You looked into your hearts and donated to children who have already faced some difficult circumstances in their young lives. So whether you celebrate Christmas as part of your religion, follow another faith or have no religious beliefs at all, I wish you a very happy, peaceful and celebratory Christmas and New Year.
