A constant and keen eye is being kept on road safety surrounding local schools in Chaddesden ward as school parking patrols continue in the neighbourhood.

Councillors from Chaddesden Ward, neighbourhood staff, local police, Council enforcement officers and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service have recently completed a further patrol of seven local schools in the area.

The initiative which takes place quarterly is an excellent example of partnership working in local neighbourhoods, focused on raising awareness of road safety and reminding parents and carers to be considerate when parking locally to drop off or collect their children at school.

Councillor Sara Bolton, Chair of the Chaddesden Ward Neighbourhood Board says of the initiative, “Road safety is our prime concern, especially around our local primary schools which are often located close to houses and shops.  I am very pleased to say that we found little of concern on this occasion.  The schools have been very supportive and I continue to welcome their input in sharing their concerns and assisting with keeping Chaddesden children safe.”

All Head Teachers were contacted by Councillor Sara Bolton and supported the work of everyone involved.
