Derby City Council will be leading a delegation of local businesses to the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) from Tuesday 7th to Wednesday 8th November in Shanghai. Business leaders from across Derby are invited to attend a China business seminar at the Council House on Thursday 21st September between 8.30am and 10.30am to learn about the forthcoming China Trade Mission which is being arranged by the Department for International Trade on behalf of the Midlands Engine.

The seminar will feature talks from the Department of Trade and other business leaders on the benefits and prospects of trading in our partner city of Hefei and throughout China. There will also be a question and answer session and time to network with the speakers.

CIIF is one of the world’s largest industry expos, with around 2,000 global exhibitors and 150,000 visitors and this year the UK has been given the status of ‘Country of Honour’. This will provide British companies with an unrivalled platform to promote their goods and services to businesses, government departments and consumers.

The delegation is in line with one of our 50 key Pledges, in building links with overseas markets as a way of guaranteeing the future economic prosperity of the city in the light of Brexit and of our ambitious vision for the city where jobs and businesses are growing and we have the infrastructure to create a city for the future.

Leader of the Council Cllr Ranjit Banwait said

“I’m delighted that Derby will join with other key cities in the Midlands to promote our fantastic businesses in the fastest growing market place in the world. We have a reputation for ingenuity, innovation and excellence, so we have much to offer in terms of sharing knowledge and expertise and this expo presents a great opportunity to shocase what we do.”
