The second City Centre Deep Clean is taking place on Thursday 25th October!
After the success of the first event in July, the team will now carry out a Deep Clean in Osnabruck Square, Exchange Street and East Street. We will also be cleaning the iconic Derby Ram as part of our activities on the day!
As before, the event is being coordinated by the Council’s Neighbourhoods team. Streetpride staff, councillors, partners and volunteers will be out in force to clean, repair and rejuvenate this part of the city centre.
This event will involve a variety of street cleansing and maintenance activities, such as:
- gum removal
- jet washing, restoring and repairing street furniture
- replacing damaged and worn street bins
- cutting back trees
- cleaning gullies
- jet washing and cleaning footways.
Pride in your city
The City Centre Deep Clean initiative was set up to inspire people to feel pride in their city.
Councillor Jonathan Smale, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Streetpride, said:
The first Deep Clean event was such a success – we were so grateful to everyone who came out to paint, clean and spruce up the city.
We hope to continue this great work with the second Deep Clean day, focusing on a new part of the city with osnabruck square! I look forward to working with more Derby residents, Streetpride staff members, and volunteers from Broomfield College to make our city a great place to live, work and visit.
On the day
The Streetpride teams will be out to begin work early in the morning, starting at 7.30am. We will be welcoming volunteers from 9.00am onwards, with a briefing scheduled for 9.30am.
There are no planned road closures for the day, as much of it takes place in pedestrianised areas. We expect the work to be finished at 3.30pm.
How can I get involved?
The team would welcome any volunteers to take part in this event. If you would like to be involved in the City Centre Deep Clean, please contact Rebecca Hudson.
If you spot any litter on the streets, or any areas of the city that you think are in need of a clean, you can always let us know using the forms on our website:
