Local residents in Arboretum attended a consultation event at Arboretum Park to discuss plans for improvements taking place on the park facilities.

During the event, residents were shown plans for the new play area which has been influenced by feedback from local children who use the existing facilities.

Local ward councillors, Derbyshire Police, Neighbourhood Partnership Officers and Community Protection Officers attended the event to answer any questions raised by the public.

Work will start on installing the new equipment for the play area today and it will take a maximum of 30 days to complete.

Cllr Amo Raju, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said:

I am looking forward to the opening of this new play area which will provide plenty of enjoyment for the local children in this community. The Derby parks team have done a tremendous job throughout the consultation process and this project will help benefit the area for many years to come.

Claire Briggs, Neighbourhood Partnership Officer, said:

It was great to get the views of the local residents on the planned improvement work for Arboretum Park. The feedback we received was extremely positive and we are all looking forward to the children getting the opportunity to play with this unique and exciting equipment.”
