The Chapter Steward at Derby Cathedral has made the shortlist for a national women’s award.
Rachel Morris, who joined the Cathedral in January 2015, is among those shortlisted in the Rising Star Awards 2017.
The awards aim to promote the work of women in Britain and India and this year’s winners will be announced on July 17th at a ceremony in London.
Rachel, who trained originally as an occupational therapist before working in the licensed retail trade, was nominated not just for her role at the Cathedral.
She worked previously for nine years at YMCA Derbyshire and chaired various groups including the Derby Street Drinkers’ Intervention Panel and the Derby Hostel Liaison Group.
“I’ve chaired various groups in order to try to assist those in most need,”
‘My other passion is Derby County Football Club where I work as carer for young footballers who become part of our family and learn independent living skills while living with us.’
She is among 10 candidates to be shortlisted in the property and facilities management section.
Overall, the competition attracted 1250 nominations for 20 sections covering all types of industries.
