Derby City Council is launching a new consultation exercise with older people and all key stakeholders, to encourage additional and new specialist housing for older people in the City.
The Strategy aims to promote and encourage greater choice and independence for older people, by encouraging developers and investors to develop much needed affordable housing and more specialist housing with care, for older people with care and support needs.
The number of older people resident in Derby is set to rise rapidly, many of whom are expected to live longer but with increasingly complex health care needs. This consultation aims to engage older people and agencies who work with older people, to understand their aspirations for high quality housing in the City, to ensure that the actions proposed will deliver what people want.
The Consultation Survey is available online at Derby City Council’s website ‘Your City Your Say‘ and will run until 5 April 2019 and will support wider consultation work which has already taken place to produce our draft Strategy.
