The annual Derby City Jobs fair will be taking place on Friday (21st September) from 10.00am at Derby County Football Club at the Pride Park Stadium.
The event, which will be opened by Derby City Council Cabinet Member for People, Councillor Evonne Williams, pulled in over 900 jobseekers looking for a new job last year.
East Midlands Airport, Pentaxia and Derby City Council will be there on the day as well as representatives promoting jobs from health and social care, construction, engineering, retail and the food and beverage sectors.
Not only will the event help Derby citizens explore the local job market but will also give them the chance to brush up on their CV writing skills and tips on how to fill in job applications. There will even be mock interviews set up, so willing job hunters can practise their interview technique with a constructive panel.
Advice is on hand from the Jobcentre Plus about becoming self–employed and information on volunteering opportunities across Derby.
Councillor Evonne Williams said:
“It’s fantastic for Derby citizens to have great local employers all under one roof. This is one of the largest Jobs Fair in the City, and the Derby City Council is committed to helping our residents access employment opportunities. Not only are they getting the chance to meet the employers but also learn valuable skills from CV writing to preparing for an interview. They will also get the chance to learn more about the opportunity of the job training through apprenticeships and traineeships.”
Rachel Musson, District Operational Lead at the DWP said:
