There will be a number of road closures next week to allow essential highway maintenance work to be carried out on a number of routes in the city.
The road closures will take place on:
- Acorn Way (Whole length) – Tuesday 25 April – 09:30 to 15:30
- Lime Lane Mansfield Rd to Kings Corner) – Wednesday 26 April – 09:30 to 15:30
- Staker Way/Lane (Whole length) – Thursday 27 April – 09:30 to 15:30
In order to reduce the impact of these closures on road users and to reduce the cost, a coordinated approach will be adopted with all necessary works taking place at the same time. This will include highway repairs, grounds maintenance, litter picking, mechanical sweeping, gully cleansing, and arboricultural work.
A section of Acorn Way and Stalker Lane is the responsibility of Erewash Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council. Where possible we will also coordinate the works with Erewash Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council, to mitigate any disruption for road users.
Erewash Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council have been invited to take part in joint operations on their respective sections of these roads.
Councillor Asaf Afzal, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Public Protection, said:
By using this co-ordinated approach we hope to reduce the impact of the closures on road users and keep disruption to a minimum. Through carrying out this work we will be able to improve the overall condition of the highways so it benefits everyone.”
