Flowers left in the Market Place in tribute to those who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena attack on 22nd May are to be moved this weekend.
The Furthest from the Sea festival opens tomorrow, Saturday 16th June, but in respect to those who paid their respects, flowers and tributes will be laid at Speaker’s Corner and wilted bouquets will be composted to help new life flourish.
Messages on cards and boards will be kept and preserved in the Book of Condolence from Monday 19th June.
Councillor Amo Raju, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism says,
We will never forget Derby’s outpouring of support and solidarity with those who so tragically lost their lives in Manchester. We echo the city’s resilience and refusal to give into hate.
Anyone who wishes to pay tribute or to reflect on the tragedy is welcome to sign the Book of Condolence which remains open in the main reception of the Council House.
