An animation video created by the Children in Care Council (CiCC) is hoping to encourage other young people in the City with care experience to get involved and take part.

The video highlights how the CiCC works, what they do and how they shape and influence care for looked after children in the city, including the Corporate Parenting Pledge which was signed this time last year by Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and Safeguarding, Councillor Sara Bolton and Strategic Director for People Services, Andy Smith.

Councillor Sara Bolton, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and Safeguarding said about the video:

“I’m incredibly proud of the work done by the Children in Care Council to create this video, which highlights just how influential their opinion is in shaping how we look after our Children, including the Corporate Parenting Pledge. I would encourage any young people who are in care, or have care experience to come and take part in the Council so that we can continue to know what matters to our children and young people.”

The Children in Care Council is for all children and young people with care experience aged 10-21. The Children in Care Council highlight issues affecting children & young people who are ‘looked after’. It provides a platform where young people may speak about things that matter to them and contribute towards positive changes benefiting all of the City’s looked after Children.
