As Storm Freya rattled her way through the city on Sunday night, a tree on London Road lost the battle against the strong winds and came crashing down on a (thankfully) empty, parked car and blocked one of the city’s busiest roads.

Upon being made aware of the situation, members of our Streetpride teams, (several of whom weren’t even on call) jumped into action and quickly removed the fallen tree and debris. The area was soon made safe with minimal disruption to residents and anyone travelling through the area.

Councillor Jonathan Smale, Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods and Streetpride said:

“I am so incredibly proud of the teams who worked quickly and professionally to attend to the tree and make the area safe. I’m particularly proud of those team members who turned up and helped out even though they weren’t on call. It’s a really clear demonstration of our employees dedication to the residents of Derby. Well done team!”
