As part of our budget setting this year, we are asking you to have your say on a number of proposed changes to our People Services.

The financial outlook for councils across the country remains extremely challenging, particularly for social care and public health, where there are ever-increasing demands on the service, and a continued reduction in funding.

None of our budget decisions are easy and it is important that we fully consider the views of all those affected by our proposals before we make them.

We want to know your views on our saving proposals as a whole. We also want to know your views on proposed service changes to:

  • Livewell
  • In-house day centres
  • Council owned care homes
  • Carer’s services
  • Fostering services

These changes would help us make the savings we need, while continuing to ensure that we deliver services to those who need them most. By taking part in this consultation you will be helping to shape the future of these services in Derby and helping to make sure that we make the best possible use of the money we have available.

You can take part and give your views by completing the online survey at or if you would like to complete a paper copy just contact 01332 640 000 to request one and you can return it in the pre–paid envelope that will be provided.

You can also pick up a paper copy of the questionnaire at the Council House, or at one of our libraries.

If you would like to request the questionnaire in a different format such as a different language or an easy read version please also email us or call 01332 640 000.

The consultation will be open until Friday 1st February at 10.00 am, and your views will be discussed at a Council Cabinet meeting on 13th February, where decisions will be made about these savings proposals.

Please take this opportunity to tell us what you think, your views are important to us and will help shape the future of these services in Derby and help make sure that we make the best possible use of the money we have available.

The wider budget consultation which will ask for your feedback on proposals covering all other Council departments will open later this month.
