Tour of new Normanton, Friday 8th September – 2pm – 3.30pm

A rare opportunity for a guided tour of New Normanton by Danny Wells. It is an area so rich in terms of nationalities, languages and faiths and hosts Britain’s first public park.

The tour begins with a brief introduction of the work of the Open Centre and finishes next door with tea and biscuits at the Pear Tree Baptist Church.

Places must be pre-booked.

Faith trail to local Places of worship in Derby City Centre, Saturday 9th September – 10am – 2pm

Visitors will be able to begin their journey at the Open Centre before heading out to visit the Hindu Temple, Muslim Mosque and Sikh Gurdwara before returning to Pear Tree Baptist Church situated next door to the Open Centre.

Visitors will be able to see each place of worship, listen to a talk about the religion, ask questions and at some places sample the different foods for free. Each tour will take about 1 hour and all places of worship are no more than a 5 minutes walk from one another. Trained and experienced staff will lead the tours/talk. Visitors will not take part in any acts of worship.
