The Derby Adult Learning Service will be hosting a number of free taster sessions over the next few weeks as part of digital month.

The sessions are as followed:

Get going with Skype

The session will introduce you to some of the ways Skype can be used to keep in touch with friends and family.

• What is Skype and why use it?
• Creating a Skype account
• Setting up Skype tools and options correctly
• Making and accepting a Skype video call
• Accepting a contact request

During the session, you will use a PC/laptop, but you are welcome to bring your own fully charged Smartphone or tablet. You will need basic Internet navigation skills. You also need to have an email account and be able to access it from the internet.

The session will be held on Wednesday 8th February, 1pm – 3pm, Rycote Centre, Parker Street, DE1 3HF.

How to keep safe on the internet

The Internet is amazing but there can be dangers for those who are unaware. The taster session will provide you with some e-safety tips to keep you safe when online.

The session will be held on Monday 14th February, 9:30am-12pm, Rycote Centre, Parker Street, DE1 3HF.

Learn to tweet

The session will introduce you to twitter and will show you how to:

  • Create a twitter account
  • Build a twitter profile
  • Find and follow at least two people or organisation
  • Send and reply to tweets

Participants will need basic PC/Laptop and internet navigation skills. You also need to have an email account and be able to access it from the internet. You are welcome to bring your own fully charged Smartphone or tablet.

The session will be held on Monday 20th February, 9.30am-11.30am, Rycote Centre, Parker Street, DE1 3HF.
