International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

We can use International Women’s Day to strive for gender equality and better outcomes for women.

International Women’s Day provides us with the opportunity to take bold action to highlight the successes and achievement of women throughout history.

Everyone can play their part in supporting this. A number of events are planned including an International Women’s Day Festival.

As part of the International Women’s Day Festival various workshops, live entertainment and activities will take place on Saturday 11th March, from 10am-4pm at the Market Place, Quad, Cathedral Quarter and throughout Derby.

We are also providing British sign language interpretors’ who will be there throughout the day to show our commitment to deaf people’s equality in the city.
