With 2017 now in full swing Markeaton Park are looking forward to another successful year, with the Craft Village and park continuing to deliver a diverse range of activities and events for the residents of Derby and its visitors.

Adding to the growing list of things to do and see at Markeaton Park, in January the Craft Village gained an exciting new addition in Jumping Clay. Encouraging people to get crafting and discover their inner artist, Jumping Clay is a family-focussed activity hub running workshops and activities for both children and adults.

Markeaton Park Craft Village is currently home to a number of businesses offering a diverse range of craft activities, workshops and handmade goods. Sitting alongside the Craft Village’s other popular establishments such as Paint a Pot, Studio in the Park and Cocoa Tabby Chocolate Shop, the addition of Jumping Clay is sure to become another huge draw for the lively area.

The new unit offers a wide range of workshops throughout the week, with additional activities for children taking place during the school holidays. Such activities include the extremely popular JumpingCAMP, a multi-activity camp designed to inspire, educate and entertain. Children are encouraged to learn through play, learning mess free model-making using basic shapes and colour blending.

Councillor Lisa Eldret, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said:

It’s great to see new businesses choosing to make Derby’s parks their home. Jumping Clay is another wonderful addition to Markeaton Park Craft Village, continuing the development and growth of one of Derby’s much-loved parks and giving it a strong future for everyone to enjoy.”

With such businesses choosing to settle in its parks, Derby continues to be a great place, to live, work and visit.
