The Merrill Melody Makers choir, made up of pupils from years seven to 11, was formed as part of the Merrill Academy enrichment programme in September.
They performed their début concert at the Academy in front of fellow pupils, local primary schools, family and friends – singing a selection of festive and rock songs including ‘Jingle Bells’ and Queen classic ‘We Are the Champions’.
Merrill Academy Head teacher Marcus Shepherd said:
“The girls have only been singing together for a short time but have already grown in confidence and the concert was fantastic.”
At other schools across the city, the Make More Music project has been hitting the right note with students and offering them the opportunity to learn and develop new skills.
