QUAD has plenty to do over the October half term with films and workshops for families or just for young people.

KidsQUAD: are Creative activities for children aged seven to eleven, without grown-ups. Miniature Masterpieces! is inspired by the current exhibition, join one of our artists to create your own mixed-media miniature masterpiece. KidsQUAD: Miniature Masterpieces! takes place on Monday 28th October, from 10.30am to 3.00pm, the cost is £25.00, booking is recommended, and a packed lunch is required.

QUAD’s activities for young people aged twelve to sixteen, DigisQUAD, include a Manga themed October half term holiday activity. Create some Manga and Anime styled artwork using traditional drawing techniques and Photoshop. DigisQUAD Manga! includes three sessions taking place on Wednesday 30th, Thursday 31st October and Friday 1st November, from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. The cost is £45.00 for all three sessions.

MinecraftLAB is a series of fun creative sessions in QUAD for ages eight to sixteen focused around the popular game Minecraft, focusing on specific objectives and a community-themed build. MinecraftLAB – Micro/Macro World is a chance to collaborate using Minecraft’s creative tools to build a world that makes the small big and the big small! MinecraftLAB – Micro/Macro World takes place on Tuesday 29th October, with two separate sessions from 10.00am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.00pm. The cost is £8.00 per person per session or £14.00 for both sessions, advance booking strongly recommended.

Make and Take Day, QUAD’s popular family friendly, artist-led creative sessions. Suitable for families with children of all ages to come make whatever they want, with whatever materials and take it away afterwards. The drop-in sessions are free – just bring plenty of imagination! Make and Take Day takes place in QUAD on Friday 1st November, from 11.00am to 4.00pm.

In QUAD Cinemas there is some great family entertainment up to and over half term with a Cine Kids film. QUAD’s ‘Cine Kids’ are family focused film screenings every weekend and during the school holidays. All tickets are £3.50 for Cine Kids Club members (which includes the whole family and their guests). Membership is free and available from QUAD Box Office to families with children under sixteen.

From Monday 27th October to Friday 1st November, QUAD Cine Kids will be transporting family audiences back to Roman Britain and embrace the timeless, irreverent humour of the successful books and TV series with Horrible Histories: The Movie Rotten Romans (PG). Atti, a Roman teenager with brains but very little brawn, is forced to join the army and sent to miserable, cold, wet Britain. Things go from bad to worse when he’s captured by Orla, a feisty teenage Celt desperate to prove herself as a warrior. As the Romans prepare for an historic showdown with the Celts at the Battle of Watling Street the two new friends find themselves lined up on opposite sides of the battlefield.

QUAD will also be screening the new film A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon. Shaun (Justin Fletcher) and his gang have been enjoying a quiet life, but when an intergalactic being crash lands on Mossy Bottom Farm, that’s all about to change. Shaun meets a mysterious, mischievous alien called Lu-La. Discovering she has magical extra-terrestrial powers, Shaun is amazed and welcomes her into the flock. Lu-La is missing her faraway home and with a dangerous organisation on the hunt for the unique alien, the flock must figure out a way to help their new friend before Farmageddon strikes. A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (U) screens in QUAD as a regular priced screening, from Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November
