Derby City Council employees and Derby residents are being invited to Wear Red on Friday 20th October in support of Show Racism the Red Card’s national Wear Red Day.
Everyone wearing red is asked to donate a pound to help raise funds for the much needed work of Show Racism the Red Card. Every pound raised during the Wear Red Day will help the organisation to support and educate young people and teachers about racism.
Schools in Derby have been invited to take part and the Council is encouraging other local organisations, businesses and individuals in the city to take part too.
Cllr Afzal, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Public Protection said:
“Let’s turn Derby Red and show our support for Wear Red Day. Racism is a very serious issue and affects communities across Derby and the UK. Just by wearing red for a day and donating a pound we can demonstrate there is no room for racism in Derby, as well as supporting the educational work of Show Racism the Red Card.”
