The Mayor of the City of Derby, Councillor Linda Winter, raised the rainbow flag today (17 May) at 11.00am in the River Gardens to mark ‘International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia’.
Council employees will also support the day by wearing rainbow themed accessories, ties, bracelets, badges and lanyards.

“Today we play our small part in this worldwide event, celebrating the freedoms we enjoy in our country while remembering the billions of people across the world who do not have the basic rights to choose who they are and who they love.’’
International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia’ is part of a global campaign to unite people against the violence and discrimination that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people experience internationally – this year’s theme is Families.
