Katie Archibald MBE and Elinor Barker MBE are set to take to the Derby Arena track at the HSBC UK National Omnium Championships. The Rio gold medallists will be aiming to take the national Omnium title at the Championships being held on Saturday 4 February 2017.
Katie Archibald MBE is a former swimmer turned track champion. She is the winner of numerous gold medals including European Championships, World Cup, World Championships and Olympic titles. In total she has won 21 medals over the last three years, 13 of them gold. In 2016 Katie came back from injury to break the Team Pursuit World Record three times on the way to taking the gold medal at the Rio games.
Elinor Barker MBE was first attracted to the sport after seeing cyclists from her local club finish track sessions after leaving swimming practice. Elinor’s talent quickly earned her a place on the Olympic Development Programme. Elinor displayed her ability during her junior career achieving medal success at national and international championships. She has since gone on to win 10 international championship medals including Gold in Rio where she broke the team pursuit world record.
Katie will be joined at the Championships by male and female athletes from the Great Britain Cycling Team Squad. This will include many riders from the Olympic Senior Academy Programme and the Olympic Junior Academy Programme. The full list of riders will be announced nearer to the event.

This is the first time Derby Arena is hosting a National Track Championships event and follows the successful National BMX Championships hosted at Alvaston Park last summer. It once again highlights that Derby is well and truly on the sporting map

Tickets will also be available on the day subject to availability.
