Royal Derby Hospital Press Release:

“The Royal Derby Hospital are reminding Patients and visitors to take care this weekend when arriving at the Royal Derby Hospital site as the first entrance off Uttoxeter Road, coming from Derby city centre, will be completely closed to all traffic on both Saturday and Sunday.

The road closure is part of the ongoing improvements which are taking place to prepare for the introduction of a one-way system on the hospital loop road.

From Monday 20th February, for the next two weeks, traffic will not be able to enter the hospital site via the first entrance off Uttoxeter Road. Traffic will only be able to exit the site from this entrance.

Pedestrians will be able to bypass the works via the existing footway. Advanced temporary signing will warn motorists.

The main hospital entrance, off the roundabout on the A516 Uttoxeter Road, will not be affected.

This work will create the infrastructure needed for a new traffic light system and pedestrian crossing points. New traffic lights on Uttoxeter Road will help to control traffic flow both on and off the Royal Derby Hospital site.

The new one-way system will come into force on Monday 10th April, with the aim of improving traffic flow around the hospital. You can find out more about the new one-way system on the Royal Derby Hospital website. ”
