Last month, a graduation event was held in the Council House to celebrate the wonderful achievements of this year’s class of Independent Traveller Graduates.

A number of young people from across the city who wanted to be more independent undertook a training course to enable them to be travel across the City to school, 6th form and college independently. The class were supported by family, friends and teachers during their training.

Councillor Sarah Russell, Cabinet Member for education and skills presented the awards to the graduates and said about their achievement:

“It was an honour to meet the class of 2016 and present them with their certificates. It’s really important that young people with additional needs are supported to become independent and learn invaluable skills that will both enable and empower them to become their best selves. Well done Class of 2016, I’m very proud of you!”
