Councillor Asaf Afzal, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Public Protection, and Blagreaves Ward Councillor Amo Raju, today switched on new traffic signals marking the completion of junction improvement works on Stenson Road at the junctions with Blagreaves Lane and Goodsmoore Road.
Carried out by contractor Whitehouse Consultation Co. Ltd of Ashbourne, the £531,000 project to improve traffic flow in the area, has involved carriageway widening, resurfacing, installation of traffic signal equipment and significant drainage improvements to protect the area from future flooding.
Councillor Asaf Afzal said: “I would like to thank residents, local business owners, and road users for their patience, whilst the works have been carried out over the last few months. We have worked successfully to deliver a major improvement for the area that will assist road users long into the future.”
Councillor Amo Raju added: “‘This very busy junction needed a solution to meet the needs of an anticipated growth in traffic within Blagreaves. It also offers improved safety for pedestrians crossing in all directions for many years to come.”
