The Council will recognise St George’s Day by raising the patron saint’s flag. The Cross of St George will be flown at the Council House on Thursday 23rd April.
The planned celebrations, to be hosted by Derby Live, have been cancelled as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Instead, residents are being encouraged to share celebrations taking place in people’s homes and gardens by tagging @DerbyCC on Facebook and Twitter.
Councillor Frank Harwood, the Mayor of Derby, said:
“I hope that city residents will take this opportunity to mark St George’s Day in a modest way in their own homes. We’ll be sharing photos of any celebrations on the Council’s Facebook page.”
“I would like to take the opportunity to remind all residents that we need to stay at home, save lives and protect the NHS.”
