  • During consultation, over 3 quarters of people agreed both cities would benefit from working together more closely;
  • There were 151 responses to the on-line consultation of which 85% live, work or study in either Derby or Nottingham;
  • Every day over 40,000 citizens commute between the two cities using our strong transport links;
  • £3.8m from the European Regional Development Fund for a Metro “Green and Blue Infrastructure” programme to increase biodiversity, help reduce flooding and make land more accessible and attractive for residents, visitors and businesses;
  • Sharing services between the two Councils where we know we can make improvements and be more efficient;
  • Joint bids for European funding – securing £1m to attract new businesses and investment and £6m from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) to deliver the “Go Ultra Low City Programme to drive the uptake of low emission vehicles and improve sustainable travel;
  • A very successful China trade and investment mission in November 2016 supporting Midlands Engine trade initiatives in partnership with the Department for International Trade.
