On the 27th, 28th and 29th September, Derby Festé will be running events throughout Derby City Centre, including a whole host of free events. Students can taste street food from around the world at Bustler Market and watch shows such as trampolining and clowning, hip hop and circus and juggling all for nothing!
- Watch top class athletes in one of the country’s favourite sports
For just £8 students can watch a full day of track cycling, with some of the country’s top cyclists on the track, in the National Omnium or Madison. On Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th October, Derby Arena is the stage for these national track cycling events. Each day promises to be full of the thrill of track cycling all for just £8.

What better than a bit of horror in the run up to Halloween? The Lost Boys are back with The Creation of Frankenstein, at the Guildhall Theatre in the town centre from Wednesday 24th – Saturday 27th Oct, and this gripping production transitions seamlessly between two worlds in front of your eyes. A treat for literature lovers and romantics!
- Watch a retelling of one of cycling’s greatest races
2Magpies Theatre is bringing Ventoux, the story of Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani’s drug-fuelled race in 2000 to the Guildhall Theatre. Cycling enthusiasts can enjoy the restaging of the race using video accompaniment and a pair of road bikes. Students can see the show for a reduced price of £12.
- Take in the Christmas tradition
Derby Arena plays host to a range of events and live performances, including the annual Christmas pantomime. This year, students can go on a giant adventure with Jack and the Beanstalk starring Duncan James from Saturday 8th December to Saturday 5th January. Concession prices are available for full-time students on production of a valid student card when booking in person at the box office or online.
