Road improvements will begin on several roads in the coming weeks, here’s everything you need to know about the work on Sancroft Road, Burton Road, and Brisbane Road..

Sancroft Road, Spondon

Resurfacing work on Sancroft Road, Spondon will commence on Tuesday 29th May, until Wednesday 30th May, again, weather permitting.

Work will take place between 9.00am and 5.00pm, with road closures and diversions will be in place.

Outside of these hours, the road will be re-opened to traffic. No on-road parking will be possible during the work.

The road will be resurfaced with new tarmac from the junction with Locko Road to the junction with Chapel Lane.

Bus services will be diverted via Chapel St and Chapel Lane for the duration of the work. All diversions will be clearly signed.

This scheme is being funded through LTP Highways Maintenance Capital funding.

Burton Road

Work is planned to be completed on Wednesday 30th May to make improvements to the car park at North View, adjacent to Burton Road.

This will take place between Hallmark and SureLet, although there may be disruption to some of the businesses on either side of this.

The one-day project will involve planing out the existing surface and replacing with new tarmac. During the work, the car park in this section will be closed to the public, deliveries and tenants.

Businesses can remain open, and a supervisor will be on site will to offer any help to ensure customers can access the shops safely. We have erected work notification signs and will put up ‘business as usual’ signs closer to the day to emphasise this message. The area will be cordoned off for the safety of passing pedestrians.

Please note, the car park to the rear of the shops is not being resurfaced.

This plan is subject to good weather and no other urgent work taking priority. Work will commence at 8.00am and should be completed at approximately 3.00pm.

Local businesses are aware, and may be taking measures to remind customers closer to the time.

Brisbane Road

Work on Brisbane Road will begin on Wednesday 30th May until Friday 1st June, weather permitting. The work will be carried out between 9.00am and 5.00pm.

To facilitate this work, a road closure will be in place between these hours and diversions will be in place. Outside of these hours, the road will be re-opened to traffic.

No on-road parking will be possible during the work.

Bus services will be diverted via Devonshire Drive and East Avenue for the duration of the work-no stops on Brisbane Road will be serviced. A temporary bus stop will be placed outside The Robin public House.

Brisbane Road will be resurfaced with new tarmac from the junction with Western Road to the junction with Sydney Close.

The work will provide a unique treatment, ideal for concrete roads in urban areas, which will seal and reinforce the road surface from the possibility of further water and weather damage.

It should restore skid resistance, improve road safety and provide local residents and road users with a smoother, safer journey.

This scheme is being funded through LTP Highways Maintenance Capital funding.
