Lanes 2 and 3 are now fully open and have been since 6.00pm on Wednesday.

There is an emergency road closure planned for Wednesday 27th February 2019 to undertake emergency repairs to the eastbound carriageway of the A52 following yesterday’s coach fire.

The road will be closed from 8.00pm on Wednesday evening and re-opened no later than 6.00am on Thursday morning. The road will be re-opened as soon as the works are completed.

The inside lane will remained closed until the above work has been carried out. The road will be closed between Pentagon Island and Raynesway. Traffic will be diverted along Nottingham and Derby Road, Chaddesden.

Our teams have worked hard to clear the fuel spill on the A52.

Two lanes will now open in the next 30 minutes.

The third lane will remain closed until it can be resurfaced following significant damage.

Following the coach fire this morning, the vehicle was recovered early this afternoon and the diesel clean-up operation began straight after.

One lane of the A52 has been badly damaged as a result of the fire and a large volume of diesel was spilt onto two of the three lanes.

The affected section of the A52 has three lanes, two of which remain closed with the outer lane open.

We are currently cleaning a large amount of diesel, and are working hard to open a second lane as soon as possible.

The inside lane, which has sustained the most damage from the fire and fuel spill, will remain closed until we are able to resurface that section of carriageway.

We’re currently working to clear a vehicle and fuel spill following a fire earlier today on the A52 Eastbound (as you come off the Wyvern slip-road).

Emergency services initially closed the road and put out the fire. Derby City Council, with the help of Galliford Try, have since controlled the situation, where thankfully no one was injured.

The vehicle is in the process of being recovered, and we will then need to work to clear the fuel spill – this will involve clearing, sweeping, and treating the road surface.

This section of road has three lanes, two of which are currently completely closed, and one will be re-opening imminently.

Our hope is to have two of the three lanes open later this afternoon. This is dependent on access to clear the spill.

The third lane is likely to remain closed until the end of the week to allow road treatment to the spill.

We are aware of the Derby County vs Millwall game this evening, and are liaising with the Club. Please be aware of the lane closure if you are travelling, and allow extra time for your journeys.

We will publish more updates on our Newsroom as we have them.
