Love Your Local Market 2019 comes to Derby Market Hall from Friday 17th – Friday 31st May

Traders at Derby Market Hall are encouraging young people to join them for a free stall from Friday 17th – Friday 31st May during the Love Your Local Market fortnight.

The national Love Your Local Market initiative aims to encourage more people to visit and shop at markets throughout the UK. This year’s initiative is focusing on providing young people with an affordable and easy route to start up a new business and market trading can provide that vital first step to developing a start-up business idea.

Anyone interested in trading at the Market Hall will get one day for free during the fortnight and if they want to trade for additional days, they will only pay £10 per day under the ‘Trade for a Tenner’ offer.

Linda Aston, Chair of the Market Hall Traders’ Association said:

“We want to inspire young people to join us, providing them with first-hand experience of selling to customers and promoting their business ideas. Many of our traders, myself included, have worked at the Market Hall for many years and we want to pass on our in-depth knowledge and experience to a new generation of traders. We know there are many young people who have lots of enthusiasm and energy and we would like them to grab the opportunities available to them. That has to be beneficial for them and for the long term economic prosperity of the city.”
